A New Hope

I used to like Fall. I liked cooler temperature, the change in attitude, the start of the school year and and the coming of Halloween. Mind you, I'm a Summer baby, so I liked that too, but there was something about Fall and its savory palette that appealed too ( Read more... )

Do people not remember the likes of Belushi and Pryor before they begin antics, shenannigans, and hijinks with speedballs and related chemical play?!

I remember back when I was new at this whole concept of working. My enthusiasm and loyalty was all for trying to impress people at my own expense. I'd cheerfully say "Hey, screw lunch, XYZ is waiting in peril for me to complete a task that is not only too much work for my pay grade, but was considered demeaning for the person it was meant for, and the deligated it to me! Hi ho, I must shine like the hero, and I'll lunch hours later to show THEM!"

Fuck that shit. They're gonna wait while I eat now. Just like I do when they don't care about my needs. I'm too old and jaded to take it in the ass like a corporate whore anymore. Efficiency and food go a long way.

I guess people have short memory for that stuff, or the usual, "It won't happen to me" complex. *shrugs*

Agreed. There's a certain point where 30 minutes of mere thumb twiddling, sometimes coupled with a good dose of food, will give you the second wind. I suppose the ex-military in the crowd will function or have the mindset of work until you drop, since they sorta give them that in boot camp - to perform under stress or to be the machine. I used to do it merely to prove some sort of loyalty or duty to my employers, and then realized that I was wasting my time and now consider my selfish right for lunch and rest just as important (and inconvenient to them) as theirs is. I don't know what 'team player' is.

If nothing else, she's made this presidential race much more intriguing. I had no interest whatsoever before, now I want to see how this plays out...

Allergies? To what? It happens--I used to be allergic to just about everything, but I think I grew out of it. Once in a while something new blows into town and wrecks my system, but I eventually get over it. I hope you do too!
