I know when death's a comin', it is a common theme in this journal. I don't, however, speak of life much. It happens, from time to time, as you well know ( Read more... )

My own weird observations, or beliefs, match with the "it's your time" or "not your time" and somewhere I looked at it as whether you've completed what you were to do (whether you knew it or not) on earth. And the unpredictable ways in which people are taken or live through various methods of things that can kill.

I know there's no science to it, but it still sort of sticks with me. There are people who will defy the odds, because literally, their time isn't up. They've got something left. Whereas even though other people may look purposeful and important, what they're really doing, or needed to do has been done (whether known or not) and they're essentially a wasted resource idling along where they're not needed in the grand scheme.

And short of controllable factors, this is why I tend to believe some people stay and some people go. Some are done, and others are not. Yet.

I hear ya--I often wonder if everyone has some sort of "purpose", something they are supposed to do. Interesting theory. Sometimes I wish I could see the "grand scheme", but then again, I would rather not know. That would be a bit too much information. I don't know.

Yeah - and it might not be such a defined purpose or destiny or fate or whatever, but, as an example, my mom died from alcoholism when I was 15. Risky surgery would potentially save her, but she was reasonably far gone from the stuff. And at 50/50 chance, that's high risk. It either works or it doesn't. Well, for her it didn't. And so I was catapulted into adulthood, sans parent ( ... )
