Spatula

The steam carried out the luxurious smell of pasta; the sauces the noodles, the cooked onions, tomatoes and mushrooms. It was enough to have him off the sofa, resting the newspaper on the end table as he drifted towards the kitchen. Peeking around the corner Felix spotted the bubbling pots, one filled with the brewing pasta, the other boiling the stiff noodles. He glanced from the stove to the young woman reaching into the fridge, and figuring that while she was digging around in there, he would sneak a taste. He was only met with a soft but scolding warning as he barely even took a step forward.

“You’ll spoil your appetite Daddy.”

A protruded frown slumped over his lips; he almost looked like a child. His golden eyes remained focused on her, narrowed and defiant to have his way. She moved as effortlessly from the fridge back to the stove in one single wave, milk in hand as she poured just a little into the pot of paste. She glanced to the frying pan, tortilla bread pieces sizzling against the hot iron. Picking up the spatula she flipped them, and with one swift glance she waved the spatula at him.

“You can wait, go on.”

He folded his arms leaning against the doorway, head tilting slightly, content to watch her, and continue to pester her.

“Or what, “ he retorted, “You going to spank me?”

He could see she was trying to hide a smile, but it failed, hard even to try with her perfectly lush inviting red lips. It was gone in an instant though, returning to her stoic beautiful and almost natural expression; focused on cooking.

“Don’t tempt me. “ she warned again, in that soft but authoritative tone.

Felix smiled and sighed, “Fine, “ he replied, “Have it you way love. “

But before he turned to leave-like he should have done, he swooped in, one hand reaching for the spoon that was left on the counter, the other hand stretching out and wrapping around her waist pulling her away from the stove. She probably saw this happening, but before she had any time to react she was suddenly met with a kiss; and probably out of habit, or maybe it was the way that his lips seemed to tangle with hers she had the sensation of melting. And just when it seemed too good to even think of not continuing Felix pulled away with snickering smile scooping the spoon into his mouth, leaving her to suddenly have everything swim right back to her, and chasing him out of the kitchen.
