Piano

Felix remained aloof as he sat with blank golden eyes staring over the book that he was supposed to be studying. He wrinkled his nose with a dissatisfied childish groan as he shoved the book forward out of his sight. A heavy sigh exhaled out of him, before he began to drum his fingers over the desktop.

He might as well have died sitting there, till he heard a few keys echo out through the large manor. It was the piano downstairs, and it caught his attention a moment, curiously wondering who could be playing at this hour. He heard them again, a random key by key notes. Who ever it was they surely couldn’t play because they were terrible if they thought that was music. He got up from his seat and left the room, hurrying down the stairs, and stopping just at the banister trying to lean out from the last step and peek into the room.

He could almost catch a glimpse of the figure, and heard
“Do…Ray… Mi…” a young woman’s voice recalling the note scale and fumbling to find the keys to match them. She pressed the wrong key and there was a discomforting grunt, as she started over. By now Felix was at the door peeking in, and seeing a rather slightly larger girl standing at the corner of the piano.

Her hair was short, but long enough that it curled at the nape of her neck. Her dark brown eyes were caught just perfectly in the light, how focused and determined they seemed on the piano keys. Her dress was lovely, even if it some how added and revealed her weight, it some how seemed fitting, and decorative enough to not overly impress and shadow her young girlish features still present; but it wasn’t too simple to make her look plain and ordinary either.
He was mesmerized, even if her piano playing was terrible, there was something pulling at his young heart as he gazed at her with an open and baffled mouth.

“Felix, “ came the quiet and alluring soft voice, as he turned seeing a young woman with the same bland white hair as his kept in a loose fitting bun. It was his mother, and he jumped turning uneasily thinkin she would scold him for not studying. But she simply smiled peering in with him at the visitor, drawing her golden eyes down on him.

“Meet Olivia, she’s going to be watching over you, and be your temporary instructor for the summer.”

Olivia. He looked back and she had looked up from the piano, and there eyes met, he felt a calm silence between them, but it was like they were sharing something-a secret, and he couldn’t help feeling more lured and charmed by her.

Great, he thought with a hopeful smile, so long as she doesn’t have to teach me piano lessons.
