My work is done. I love John desperately, but he just isn't very good at communicating his feelings. And I love the idea that there's a lot more going on in his head than anything we ever see. Thank you JDM for giving us that. *g*

Thank you! It's been quite stressful over here - I just want to pretend the last couple of months never happened. Unfortunately I've got just as much stress waiting for me when I return to work after the holidays.

About work -- I hear ya. Although my students may be older (physically not always mentally), the admin behind the fracas is the same. And now we have a new government which has decided to undo some of the damage done by its predecessors: the fun has just begun.

Oh, I love love love love love this. I love the contrast between Dean's thoughts and what they say to each other. I love the sticky and visceral description of the heat. I love how much they don't say. <3<3<3

Thank you! This began as a non-Christmas fic, the idea of the heat and a hunt gone bad, and then I was watching Dexter, and the thought of Christmas in Florida occured to me. I love that John is so tight-lipped, even around Dean, and Dean takes his cues from his father.

Or is this just selective memory loss?” Dad lies back against the pillows, grinning so broadly his teeth glint white in the darkness...... “You know, it breaks a father’s heart to see his son so delusional.” Dad sighs, shakes his head in mock distress. Ah, John. Lines like these... break my heart for what should have been. John's underlying sense of humor... the kind of Dad he would have been... damn.
