It's been a while since I updated. RL has been horribly hectic, and I'm so glad to be off on holiday for a couple of weeks. I've been around on LJ, but not as regularly, so I feel like I've been out of the loop.

This just makes me want to cry. The first part anyway. With Dean hurting and John hurting and Sam not even there.

The visual of John smoking outside is just perfect. Something about the non-smoker smoking with shaking hands that hits me hard.

This fic grabs my heart.

Thanks. I had this image of John outside, smoking, with his hands shaking. I have John's POV of the hunt gone bad all worked out in my head, and he's just so freaked out by the fact that Dean got captured and strung up by the cult, but he won't show his feelings to Dean. So he dopes him up and goes outside and has his wee mini breakdown, then calls up Kid2 to check on him. Aw, John.

The muse needs to be kicked. HARD. *grins sheepishly*

That was amazing! Loved the ending and the way you portrayed Dean. Also your description of the heat in the beginning was really great!

Thank you. I'm having fun exploring the John and Dean's relationship at the moment, and I'm fascinated by how things might have played out after Sam left.

It’s pretty obvious where Sammy gets his drama queen tendencies from.

I agree with the show, John and Sam are that alike. In a way, they are kick first, ask questions later, especially when it comes to someone close to them. That is classic John; never apologise, never let them see you're down. Glad to see John giving in somehow at the end. He just needs a reason, a reason other than his.

Thanks. Oh, I really see the similarities between John and Sam, much more than I see Dean and John as alike. John's worried about Dean, and he doesn't really know how to express his concern, so he ends up being harsh with Dean.

Oh goodness. This was...I have to find more adjectives that fit your fics. It was heartbreaking that's what it is and that seems to fit into every one of these stories. I adore this whole thing, the dialogue, Dean's thoughts, everything. Awesome.

Thank you! This is one of the angstier stories I've written recently and I'm considering writing it as a longer story - fleshing out the hunt that ends with Dean hurt and John so worried about him.
