We have snow! Snowballing and snowman building-type snow. It'll probably be gone tomorrow, but we made the most of it by staying up late and playing in it

Loved this. I am trying to restrain myself because I just want to curl up and cry like a little girl, but this was so painfully in character, and so masterfully written. Honestly, we know next to nothing about Jim, and yet this seems like a flashback from the show, or something. Again, heartbreaking yet beautiful.
Thank you. That's such a lovely thing to hear from a reader - you made me smile so wide! I do wish we had more about Pastor Jim, that brief glimpse we got wasn't enough, and I like to imagine that his home was a respite place for the Winchesters - all three of them.
Hard love doesn't make me want to kick John's proverbial any the less. Or Sammy's, 'cos he already knows Dean would do anything for him and cover it up as well...
I love you gentle Pastor Jim and the narrow line he walks between John and the boys.
Thank you for sharing your playground. Your writing always leaves me thinking. :-)
Thanks. John definitely needs a swift kick in the pants for this one, but Jim knows there's no point. Sam at this age is pretty complicated - he's stubborn, less likely to obey than Dean, but he's aware that what John's doing is unfair, and Sam has a highly developed sense of justice.
But in the end, he's a little kid and John's a scary guy when he's mad. I can understand why he didn't want to confess his guilt.
awwwwwwwwwwwww Eloise! YOU'RE BACK! and everytime you come back with better stuff! I love it! It's so real and poor John, poor John just trying to raise his kids without losing them. Damn stubborn Winchesters! the in loco parentis had me smile so much coz I have been thinking about writing a Pastor Jim story like that with that title, so cool!
and you know I adore the boys, but Pastor Jim AND the Winchesters just rock!! Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you are good! *hugs*
Thanks. John is in a difficult place in this story. He knows he's to blame leaving the boys on the their own, but he's also angry that Dean risked everything to steal the toy for Sam. And feeling bad that Dean took the toy for Sam, because that's how John's trained him - what Sam wants is important.
I raise a hand to Sammy, and it’ll break Dean’s heart. ...and now you've broken mine. this is so *sad*, and the kind of ruthless logic that i can completely see john employing sometimes. poor dean.
Thank you. I worte that line and then almost deleted it, because it felt such a strong statement about how John sees his kids. But yeah, John would have thought like this.
