I am returned from the Asylum, suitably knackered and squee-ed out for another year.
Okay, I'd love to do a big long post about everything I heard and saw over the weekend, but I was enjoying myself too much to take notes.
Things that made the weekend AWESOME:
1.
princess_s. She rocked my weekend. Not just because we roomied, and she looked after me and bought me my photo shoot tickets and cocktail tickets and *flails hands* everything, but because she is my muse.
I swear, the woman is a fic idea machine. I have a notebook full of ideas. I WILL write them, babes. The Bobby one, and the 'pretty' Dean one, and the drunk Dean one, and ALL OF THEM. *squeezes
princess_s until she suffocates*
2.
bittersweet_art,
madders and
angelofmir. Because they also rock, and put up with my incessant John & Dean daddy issues chatter. It was incessant, I know, but they were so sweet and encouraged me in it. Also, we had an absolute blast in the photo shoots, doing wonderful poses with all the guests. I think my fav has to be the AJ and Travis one, although I'm very fond of the Chad SUPERMAN pose.
When I went off to the airport on my own, I had to go into the loo and have a wee cry, because I missed our wee gang so much.
3. The guests. All of them were amazing. Jim (silver-tongued devil that he is), Sam, Sterling (such a SWEETIE), Lauren, Katie, Chad, AJ and Travis (who made me cry with laughter). I wish I could remember everything they said, but I know folks will post more detailed stuff than I ever could. It was a great line-up, and so much more relaxed than last year.
4. Talking about Jeffrey Dean Morgan so much that I had the best dream ever on Saturday night. It was me,
princess_s,
bittersweet_art and
angstslashhope at a convention, sitting across a table from JDM, Harrison Ford, and possibly Colin Firth, though the Colin Firth bit is hazy.
angstslashhope asked JDM would he like to be chased around the room, and he readily agreed - don't look at me like that, it's my subconscious, and I can't help it. I then kindly offered to save him and he ran into my arms, and we collapsed onto the couch in a big cuddly heap.
So there I am, sitting in JDM's lap, with my legs stretched out over Harrison Ford (did I mention he was dressed as Indiana Jones) and my feet in Colin Firth's lap, and I'm thinking to myself THIS IS THE BEST DREAM EVER!!
And I woke up giggling, and had to restrain myself from waking
princess_s and retelling the dream in glorious detail. I only regret that I didn't manage to remain longer in the dream, but clearly my subconscious only does PG13.
5. Meeting
annemiek81 again - she's such a sweetie, and she has joined forces with
princess_s to keep my muse working.
6. Meeting
legoline, and all the other Asylum ficathon girls. I love being able to exchange our fic in person. Thank you so much to
legoline for organizing it again, and to
bellasianna who wrote me two lovely fics!
7. Having Jim Beaver sign my photo - "To Louise, Love & great craic, Ya eejit!" and a wee heart next to it.
I explained to him that 'eejit' is how we spell 'idjit' in Ireland, and he wrote the craic bit himself. Spelling it properly. I told him that he was going to make me cry, and he just grinned wickedly and said:
"I've made a career out of making pretty girls cry"
And I blushed and whispered "You're doing a very good job."
The man is a silver-tongued devil, I tell you. *flutters and twitters girlishly*
Things that made me a little bit sad.
1. JDM did not suddenly appear as a special unannounced guest at the last minute (apart from the aforementioned dream sequence).
2.
angstslashhope and
derryderrydown weren't there this year. I missed the 'John girls on the stairs' portion of the con.
3. Having to go home on Sunday, and not being able to stay for the craic that evening. I think, though, that there might have relief at not having to listen to me waffle on about John and Dean again.
It was a fantastic weekend, and I want to do it all over again next year. Or, you know, tomorrow. *g*
