Supernatural Squee.

Oct 05, 2008 00:47

Emerging from radio silence to express Supernatural squee. It's been a while since I've had anything to squee about, I've been so stressed with RL stuff, but I do manage to get online about once a week, and tonight I saw SPN 4.03.

cut for ridiculously fangirly and fairly repetitive 4.03 squee )

It's good to see you -- even if it is in that 'hi, you have no idea who I am, words on a screen, weird internet sort of way' :P

The whole ep was \o/!
I fell in love with innocent lovely John, even though it completely destroys a fic I've been writing, because he was just a sweet loving caring guy, and we all knew that.

God, he looked so innocent, I wanted to smish him. I don't know what angle you're after for the fic, but as clex_monkie89 pointed out, he's probably only *just* got back from Vietnam, and he was a sniper -- there are a hundred thousand different ways PTSD could mess with him 6-12 months from 'now'...

Thank you - I appreciate the comment!

My fic is really more about John as a sixteen year old, so the PTSD wasn't a factor. As I said to dotfic, I wondered if John's ability to rub other hunters the wrong way was a personality trait, rather than as a result of Mary's death.

I suppose my own personal fanon is that John rebelled against his own father by heading off to Vietnam a year before he could be drafted, against his wishes. I wanted so much for Sam's leaving for college to be mirrored in John's leaving for Vietnam. I suppose his experiences in Vietnam could have sobered him so that he became the quiet nice guy we saw in this ep, but I fear I may have to change my fanon.

I might still write the fic, because it's meant to be a lighthearted thing, and not a deep and angsty fic. *g*

OMG, that entire speech Mary gave on the worst thing she could imagine? Completely broke me. And Dean's face... I agree, it was a stand-out episode (that could have only been made better with JDM, LOL). :)

*hugs you* I haven't enjoyed an ep this much in ages. Lots of lovely cathartic tears. How hard would it have been to time travel young JDM... I mean, surely the budget would stretch to some kind of Delorean....

I've been sucked into posting about SPN too, and it was the same episode that did it. Squeeeee! We John-lovers must stick together!

I'm soooooooo glad I'm not the only one squeeing over this episode! I got on here yesterday and had the squee totally knocked out of me to the point where I thought I'd watched a different episode to everyone else! You've really made my day!

And crying Dean - god, can that boy look any prettier?

Yeah, I know there were plot holes, and I knew some of the Sammies would freak over the lack of their boy, but this really was a Samless episode that was all about Sam...

I never NEVER expected Mary to be a hunter, and even though I'd thought about her maybe making a deal, I'd never imagined it would be to save John. and the tragedy of it was that she didn't even know what she was bargaining away - no wonder she said "Sorry" to Sam in Home... I'd convinced myself her big secret was going to be that she was one of the Special Kids from a previous generation...

All this and they just started to play Bad Company on the radio...the day is looking up!

Oh, I haven't seen that many negative comments, but then I haven't been online much, so I must have missed those. I didn't care about the plotholes, or the lack of Sam, because JOHN!!!!!

JOHN and DEAN!!!!! In the same room. With MARY and GRANDPA and GRANDMA. FAMILY ANGST. It's all I need to make me squee. *g*
