So, there's this show...
I've mentioned it briefly in my sadly infrequent recent postings. I don't think those mentions really convey how utterly I have fallen for Merlin.
There are several reasons why this show has reduced me to inarticulate squee. I shall endeavour to articulate them:
#1 - Cute boys Merlin and Arthur (particularly Arthur) playing the subtext as text. The show is slashier than most fanfic.
#2 - Anthony Stewart Head playing King Uther. Mostly I'm just *flaily hands* when he's on screen, particularly when he and Arthur share a scene ( and more of that later...)
#3 - Richard Wilson as Gaius, King Uther's physician and Arthur's mentor. He's just a delight to watch.
#4 - Two very sympathetic female characters - strong, funny and likeable. Gwen in particular is a darling.
#5 - Magic. And Dragons. Magic Dragons. Voiced by John Hurt. Who encourage the slashy relationship between Arthur and his trusty manservant...
#6 - Fighting with Swords. Good looking boys getting hot, sweaty and panting a lot will never get old.
#7 - Hints of delicious backstory. Oh, yes, there's more to Uther's hatred of magic than meets the eye...
#8 - DADDY!ANGST!!!! Uther and Arthur's relationship. For those of you who've been here since I first started picking at Wesley and Roger Wyndam-Pryce's fraught relationship will know that I am a sucker for daddy!angst. And the subtler, the better. I like little hints, throw away lines that reveal another layer of the relationship. And Arthur and Uther's relationship has sucked me in completely.
So, it really it was inevitable. After months of inability to write, I finally managed to produce fic. Merlin fic. Pre-series Merlin fic. *headdesk*
