Sentiment, or: feels all over everything. Even the ceiling.

I've been having Avengers feelings all over Twitter and in texts and in PERSON, even, so I figure I may as well have them here as well--well, I've been having Avengers feelings to exclusion of almost all other feelings, which should be exhausting, and instead is bizarrely exhilarating. I haven't loved a thing as much as I love this thing since the ( Read more... )

tl;dr, avengers

despite some illuminating twitter conversations, I still don't feel like I know what I want to say.

Ahahaha I feel like this is why I haven't made a feels post yet! Like, I have SO MANY THOUGHTS and I don't even really know where to start with it.

Also, now I am thinking about sentiment and feelings in Sherlock and I feel like this is personally a bad road to start going down.

I have to see this movie at least 5 more times before I can really tell you "half" the reasons why I enjoyed it! Right now, I'm just beaming because Joss Whedon was involved and he made me very proud to be a fan of his. lol

Me too! I was so pleased by the movie. Can't wait to see what Joss's future projects are like. P.S. your Natasha icon rocks!

This movie makes me feel a little better about series like Firefly and Dollhouse getting cancelled just as I was starting to love them. I hope he does another series soon (maybe with Sarah Michelle Gellar now that Ringer got axed).

Thanx for the icon love! I'm looking for a good Hulk one since my husband is obsessed!! ;)

I have not seen the movie so I can't say anything about it. But I love that you feel so strongly about it and the way you share it with us on twitter:)

I might have unintentionally lied to you about the fourth mention: in Loki's flashback, the alien makes fun of his feels about Asgard - which Loki then echoes when he talks to Natasha - but doesn't use the actual word "sentiment" (he says something about childish ambition or passion or... uh, obviously I need to see it again!). But YES TO EVERYTHING. I love it when blockbusters turn out to be complicated too, and Joss is nothing if not complicated. <3

Btw, the Sherlock use of sentiment is one of those things that always irked me a bit - like, Sherlock himself believes that freedom from sentiment enables clarity and efficiency in crime solving... except I also read that as ability to be objective, and I'm sorry - there ain't such animal. Joss knows this; it's one of the many things I love about his work.

ETA oh hai Natasha icon! I WANT ONE TOOOOOOO *goes to search*

I'll watch my bootleg when I get back from vacation to get the less direct mentions of heart/sentimentality. Not sure why this has possessed me, but I'm thinking of changing my dissertation topic....

Agreed re: Sherlock and objectivity. And it's clear we're meant to admire his rationality as John does, even if it isolates him.
