_wilderness_ Inferno found himself standing outside his and Red Alert's quarters, locked out again and could not for the spark of him guess why he was locked out this time.
"Aw, comm'n, Red, let me in." He cajoled, pressing up close to the door as if that would defrost his lover's icy snit.
"Go away, find someplace else to recharge tonight." Red Alert's chilly voice came from the other side of the door.
The fire-truck grimaced and glanced around to make sure he was indeed alone in the hallway. "Ah know Ah should know this Red, but did I do somethin' wrong?" Inferno flinched as the crash of something striking the other side of the door echoed in his audios. "Of course Ah did, an' Ah'm sorrah, Red. Jus' tell me what Ah did wrong and Ah'll apologize."
All he got was stony silence. Inferno sighed and let his forehead rest against the door. "Red, comm'n, jus' lemme in so we can talk? Ah wanna make it up to ya but Ah gotta know what Ah did wrong." he tried to wheedled quietly. "Ah know Ah'm sorrah so you jus' tell me what ya want me ta say and Ah'll make it up to ya."
That was the wrong thing to say.
Abruptly, the door shot open, almost spilling the fire-truck into the room as he lost his support. He was shoved back by a sharp finger and found himself faced with a wrathful looking Red Alert.
"Tell you what to say!? How can you be sincere if all you're going to do is tell me what I want to hear! And how could you not know why I'm slagging upset!?" With each shrill accusation, Red Alert poked him in the chest, driving the chagrined looking fire-truck back until he was trapped against the far wall of the hallway.
"Red, comm'n, Ah tol' you Ah was sorrah."
"Oh really! And how can you be sorry if you don't even know what you're apologizing for, huh?" he asked scathingly and glared hotly up at the other mech.
"Ah....that is ta say Ah...err...." Inferno just deflated as if someone had let all the air out of him. "Can't Ah at least sleep on teh ground? The couches in teh rec room are all too small and it hurts mah back somethin' fierce."
"Hmph! As far as I'm concerned you could go sleep in the volcano for all I care!" And with that, Red Alert swept back into the room, slamming the door behind him and re-engaging the now changed lock so Inferno couldn't follow him.
".....frag." The kicked-out mech muttered, shooting one last mournful look at his door before turning and trudging off to find somewhere else to sleep. He could always crash in the brigs again, at least the berths in there were large enough to accommodate his frame and if he was lucky, maybe Red would feel sorry for him in the morning and might even tell him what he did to slag off his lover this time.
