The theater job I just started has ended up being a lot more involved than it was supposed to be, so all my free time is being sucked into work. Which means that unfortunately, Weekly Bandom won't be going up today or tomorrow. Maybe I'll do one of those weird mid-week ones on Wednesday or something, I don't know. We'll see.

...it's possible that I'm geekier about stagehandery than I am bandom. And that's kind of hard to do, when I was telling the stagehands on the tour fun facts about MCR. *blushes*

1. I'm a stage-manager generally, but the guy in charge of this little tiny theater knows I know enough about their light-board to run a simple show. And a director I've worked with before is doing this huge (as in timeline, not production value) project with some of the middle-schoolers, and needs a kind of all-purpose techie. So I was recruited to run the board (and run sound, and help design the lights as I see fit)! The thing is, Maya (the director) kind of... doesn't think small. So for this simple little show, she wants all this crazy complicated lighting. So now I get to figure out how to make it all happen on a small analog board \o/
2. I'm stagemanaging a production of Into The Woods this summer, and have some techie-wrangling to do, among other things. (I'm already so excited for that show, man oh man.)

Props to you for being able to handle the insanity that is SM. For serious. What types of venues do you work?
Whoa, a 2-scene preset? I am so, so sorry. I hope you at least have help with the hang and such... ETA: Wait. You are running a 2-scene AND the audio? I hope it's light (haha) on the audio side? Holy shenanigans!
Oooh! Into the Woods! CMT here just did that show, it was pretty cool. Techie wrangling? Like they need training or wut?
...I am such a dork for my profession. I guess I should be, I've committed myself to a life of poverty for the next ten years, I'd better like it. :P

As for the show right now... it is pretty easy audio-wise. We're not using any mics, so all I'd need to do is play some sound effects and a couple tracks of background music. But last night when I was sorting out the logistics of all the light cues (given that yeah, 2-scene preset=adventures) one of my more important dimmers died on me. I have some complicated manuvering that gets me around it, but it means I'm tracking down someone else to run the audio. They have a couple kids who are supposedly "tech" so I figure one of them could actually learn some real ( ... )
