i think the best way to explain the mood of this mix is to quote an entry that i made around that time:
I want to make a thermos full of mocha, throw blankets into the back of the car, grab all the people I love, and drive out to the beach.
I want to spread out of the blankets and lay down in our hoodies and hats, half curled into each other and occasionally having to readjust so we can sit up to drink from the communal thermos, and look at the stars with the ocean as our soundtrack.
these songs so perfectly represent fall/winter of last year, it almost makes my chest tight. i've been listening to these songs (and some of the albums they came from) a lot a lot a lot in the past few weeks.
the tracks:
01 fall out boy - it's not a side effect of the cocaine, i am thinking it must be love
between an aching head and an aching world
02 fefe dobson - we went for a ride
and i wish we could just drive away
03 counting crows - perfect blue buildings
gonna get me a little oblivion, baby / and try to keep myself away from me
04 sam rolens - blackberry
because a rainy day can't mean a thing if you're not here to spend it inside with me / teapots singing us to sleep
05 bonne 'prince' billy & matt sweeny - what are you?
sliding down grassy slopes to where we can be alone
06 joshua radin - winter
i should know who i am by now
07 the kinks - nothin’ in this world can stop me worryin’ ’bout that girl
tell me who can i turn to / just who can i believe?
08 tom petty - luna
the night was all clouded with dreams / wind made me shiver
09 counting crows - round here
i walk in the air / between the rain / through myself and back again
10 the replacements - skyway
at night i lie awake / wonderin if i'll sleep / wonderin if we'll meet out in the street
11 josé gonzález - cycling trivialities
all this time you were chasing dreams / without knowing what you wanted them to mean
12 the weakerthans - left and leaving
i wait in 4/4 time / count yellow highway lines / that you're relying on to lead you home
13 the hush sound - artist
you perceive all of these things i'd never have know / love, will you turn off the lights? / cause we're already home
14 bonnie 'prince' billy & matt sweeny - bed is for sleeping
and tears are for falling / smiles are for breaking
15 josé gonzález - heartbeats
sharing different heartbeats / in one night
enjoy.
