A quick note to say that "Some Kind of Monster" is the most oddly compelling documentary I've ever seen about the creative process. And I don't even, ya know, love Metallica or anything. Still, this is a do-not-miss movie.

Unless, of course, you miss it...

I loved that movie. I kept trying to get other people to watch it but they wouldn't because they didn't like Metallica.

This movie is probably better if you HATE Metallica. It's great.

I think I actually like Metallica now, which is a curious result of watching them go through all of that nonsense in such a mid-life, booze-assisted, Stuart Smalley kind of way. Lars Ulrich is a character study.

In what way was it lame, exactly?

And laughing's not bad, at all. It's got some damn funny parts.

It almost hurt to watch it frogman1975 July 7 2005, 05:18:57 UTC
But maybe that is because I was SUCH a Metallica fan as a kid and the movie is like watching a train wreck. Or maybe it was the poor quality of my stolen copy (thanks internet file sharing services ( ... )
