in my history of london class we watched this video that compared the roman empire and the american empire - it was by the bbc, so it was pretty amusing the way they portrayed the us and president bush. but it was pretty interesting, because they showed little examples of how the u.s. was slowly taking over the rest of the world, i.e. mcdonald's in every country. and how bush's speeches post 9/11 were propagandaish - "if you're not with us you're against us". but one of the main points is that every empire will eventually fall, and i think that could very well be happening now.
so yeah. what you said makes sense, for the most part.
its really simple and straightforward. might look like a tiger, but its made out of paper. its the impression of the tiger that scares you not the material its made up of
that makes a lot of sense to me, and i can't say i disagree with any of it either. my government teacher has been speaking much like this, as have a lot of my friends... i would not be at all surprised if bush was the downfall of the american empire. he is forcing america to be a threat to other nations, and it makes perfect sense for them to band together to oppose us. we are not untouchable, and i think even after 9/11 a lot of people don't understand this fact..
