Ho Ho Ho! (unless you live in Australia, then I greet you with Ha! Ha! Ha!)
Dearest Church, the holy days draw nigh. Elricmas is coming, the day of Our Lord, and thus with chestnuts roasting over quaintly-drawn fire arrays, we prepare ourselves in this season of festive excess with feasting, stories, and song. Although holy writ states that Elricmas falls traditionally on December 17th, the prophet does proclaim that from 2007 on, Elricmas (Observed) is to take place on the weekend Saturday closest to the ancient holiday, and thus this year most festivities will occur on December 15th, aka Elricmas Eve-Eve.
It is my pleasure to announce the following amusements.
The Grand Elricmas Gift Exchange
wherein congregants secretly conspire, as they sit by the above mentioned fire, to create works of surpassing loveliness in order to brighten the spirit of all.
A Festival of Caroling
we shall sing his praise on high
An Illustrated Book of Feasts
favourite recipes collected from all regular church members, with invitations for the artists among us to illustrate the choicest offerings with traditional ancient Elric imagery from the days of yore
The Iron Drunk Marathon
a raucous celebration of tipsy cheer, open to any and all
The Church shall be open all day and into the wee hours, and will be especially decorated for the occasion. Come one, come all! Come let us adore him!
Further information regarding each of these events shall be posted soon. Any questions or suggestions will be gladly entertained, in a spirit of extreme (but in no way excessive) cheer.
