Its nothing important, but its something important to /me/. Valiant/The Mesa is pulling the plug.
I started Valiant in 2002. It was the biggest single work of my life. The Mesa itself was 3 years of work before it opened. I don't see that I'll be able to do something like that again. It was kind of my One Thing.
That's important, whether it's important to you or to the world as a whole. As they say, "To the world, you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world". I've always liked that saying.
Why is it being pulled, low attendance? Financial concerns?
Its a hard time to run a larp. Attendance was low, the staff had other demands on their time. The economy is not good, there are MANY larps out there competing for weekends.
It was apparent that my rep was costing the game some attendance. Even after I stepped off of staff and the larp was rebranded and run by the Team it was tough. We never had high numbers, but we had a devoted small circle of fans.
I'm so sorry George. We did our best and what we did was great, but it isn't enough sadly and it is with a heavy heart we decided to pull the plug. Thank you for sharing your wonderful world with us and for trusting us to take on the story of the Mesa. I will be always greatful for your faith in us as a team and for everything I have learned from being a part of Valiant/Mesa, very much thanks to you.
