*dusts off LJ*

Well, I'm alive. Did you miss me?  Work has blocked LJ now so that really really makes me neglect it. Actually, with twitter AND LJ blocked - I am a sad panda. But also, things have been interesting on this end. Some good some bad. C'est la vie.

*Hugs*

So, will there be enough room for ME when I come visit??????

:D

One piece of advice: get their names off of any of their assets ASAP. Right now the law looks back 5 yrs. And no, I'm not advocating looking for government help, just trying to protect their assets and life savings. Tl;Dw

Just sayin....don't wanna spam your lj but BOY could I tell you stories!

Know that I KNOW what you're going through, and sending much, much love!

We have been though that with my grandmother - which is part of the reason for all of this. If I can save up what I think I can in a couple years, then we should be able to take care of the 5 yrs portion. They are slowing down and we figured if we start now, things would be easier in the long run. Plus my lease is going to be up for renewal and post-Katrina rents are just stupidly high.

I know you know what I know/will know/need to know my sistah! *cuddles*

RE: Room - I'll actually have about the same amount of actual living space and the mattress of squee® is always ready when you have to escape to the swampland! :)

LOL They have had the empty nest for a while so they have had the deserved break. I'm sure that helps!

I think that's pretty awesome. More and more people in our area are becoming multiple generation households and it just makes sense. Taking care of your own is terribly underrated in our society. It sounds like a win-win for you all.

It does help that I'll basically have a self-contained space of my own; that helps privacy concerns. LOL
But yeah, it really is a great choice for us in the "sandwich" generation - which really isn't me because I don't have kids but you know what I mean. Just the extra hour I'd save on travel will be a lot!

My parents now live within walking distance of two of my mom's brothers and their respective wives. My mom is about 20 years younger than them, and having her close has really revitalized them all. I have an uncle on my dad's side of the family that lives with my grandmother. She's getting to be very elderly and she is convinced he's living with her because he needs a place to say. He has not dissuaded her of the notion and it's worked out beautifully for both of them. She feels useful and he makes sure she has groceries and that her lawn is taken care of.

*hugs* indeed :)

We're hanging in there. If it's not one thing, it's another, but I'm determined to come out better off from all of this.
