Another world, another dollar - the Exiles are enjoying a practical vacation one minute, and the next, they're being unceremoniously dumped in what appears to be Central Park. The New York skyline is visible all around, in the dim twilight - but it's taller, and shinier, than most would remember ( Read more... )

Sarah is hovering a couple feet off the ground, still dressed all nicely from her date, complete with green hair ribbon. She looks almost stunned at first, then lowers her head, closing her eyes. This new world, and what it might bring is the last thing on her mind right now.

Morph takes a deep breath.

"This can't be New York. Too sanitary."

Raven blinks in surprise. Well. She hadn't expected it to be that easy. Become more flexible, indeed.

She lights a cigarette and looks around. The place looks clean. That's a good sign.

Sarah's ribbon catches her eye. Interesting. First, survey the surroundings. Then, it's time to find out if TJ isn't the only one of her granddaughter's getting lucky.

...surely someone has given the girls The Speech. Hmm...

"The air smells too clean," Raven agrees. "It should have more flavor."

Sarah hasn't noticed the looks. She can hear her teammates, but she's still smelling Gretchen's perfume, which has a lot more immediate hold on the senses of the teenager than this new crisis, albeit intermingled with anger at getting just the one day. Still, she's not going to let anyone see her looking that frustrated and blurry eyed.
After a few moments, she steels herself as well as she can, and looks about, more for appearances than anything.

"I thought it sounded insane myself, but the Heroic Age is full of insanity. Nordic Gods walked the earth speaking like Victorian Englishmen and a race of green monkeys tried to invade the Earth. All the stories from that time are about that crazy. After what I've seen, I'm not inclined to doubt them anymore."

"So...no to birds, yes to eating the Earth's molten core, and," She glares at Spider-Man, "Where the hell is Talia?"

The look she gets in return is a complete non-verbal how should I know, bitch?

Until he glances at the Tallus.

"I... think she's working solo now."

She pulls out her third cigarette since jumping. Slowly lit, slowly puffed into life. "Lie to me, arschlock. Tell me she's with her father, somewhere safe."

Her eyes close as she takes another slow drag. When they open, she looks him in the eye, waiting.

Some of the hover-cars swarming in the distance come closer - with searchlights attached, and blue-suited agents riding within.

One agent speaks with a megaphone, addressing the Exiles.

"Attention, Extra-Dimensional Visitors. We have detected your arrival in our dimension. What are your intentions?"

The welcome could be warmer, but at least they ask questions first around here.

"Extra-dimensional visitors...?" Sarah ponders a moment. "Well, seems they know their stuff around here." she adds, before moving towards them. "Friendly, in all likelihood. We're here to help. Who is in charge around here?"

Raven puts a possessive hand on her surviving granddaughter's shoulder.

"We have no ill intent." She shifts into her Red Guard uniform. "In my home dimension, I am an officer of the law. My companions and I did not choose this dimension of our own volition. We would like to begin our brief stay here by lawfully secureing food and lodging, if possible."

"We can take you back to headquarters, and get you some food. We'll have to run some routine checks to make sure you're not carrying any exotic off-world diseases - standard operating procedure for contact with off-worlders. Then I'm sure President Richards will want to meet with you personally."

The hovercars descend to land near the Exiles, and the agents arrange themselves to make room for passengers.
