I admit I was a huge fan of your first Jeff/Annie fic back in February so I'm soo happy to see you have written more :D

Aww, this chapter, you've captured the melancholy of the birth day of a barely grown-up (I would know, got my own 21 coming up this year) and how sad and alone it is sometimes to be Annie so perfectly and it was so heartfelt and gripping my heart hurt for her, (and I suspect Jeff's did too, 'cause it's heartbreaking to see the perky lively adorable Annie Edison so subdued and jaded, naturally even he wanted to cheer her up ♥)
All the dialogue and banter were top-notch,too,btw.

Annie watched the way his hand looked touching her, trying to lock it into her memory.
*sigh* the whole peace is laced with such longing but this moment is like it reaches its peak, just... *sigh*

Anyway, it was kinda sad and perfect and I hope these two crazy kids can make it work someday ♥

Her mouth quirked up sadly. “My plan is just to quietly get a year older.”

--- oh, that just made me sad... but i can imagine this is something Annie would say.

And, I know your fic earlier (the one where they were trapped) had lots of dialogue, but I really like this. :)

Oh gosh. This broke my heart a little bit. The idea of Annie just wanting to be at home alone on her birthday and quietly get older because growing up sucks just... it makes my heart hurt. And that moment where she tells him she's become jaded after spending so much time with him really hit me. Because I think THAT'S a huge part of what keeps Jeff away from her - knowing that he IS jaded and that he's cynical and wrong for her and her youth and optimism and the very thing that's attractive to him is what necessitates his inability to act. I don't know, it breaks my heart.

But this is lovely.

I'm on board for this "Annie's 21st b-day series" idea! And this first one, a sad one that Jeff made a bit better, was very touching.
