LOL Hi!! You know,I saw your LJ name and thought my niece was starting a blog... her name is Elspeth but she's only 4. *chuckle*

And yes, I completely agree - Serenity. Best Sci Fi.

Have you seen the new Star Trek yet? I've gone 3 times... *blushes* I know it's not the same as the series, but as an action movie, it rocked.

When your niece is old enough to understand such things, tell her that the most common name amongst women in Scotland who were tried and hanged in ancient times as witches (the vast majority of whom were no doubt the victims of ignorance and malicious gossip) was Elspeth. Explains a LOT about what my pupils have been thinking of me for years...
Yes, I have seen the new "Trek" and yes, it rocked. Although I would have liked Eric Bana's villain to be given more screen time for development. Bana is an excellent actor, but I don't think you really got a sense of the character's tragedy and pain. Maybe the DVD will mend that.

Oh my goodness... I'll have to let my sister know. That'll be a shock for her. :) *evil laughter ensues*

I agree. Bana didn't get enough screen time. You want to sympathize with him somewhat when you find out why he's doing what he is, especially when you see the hologram of his family, but it's not enough.

But 2 & 3 are already signed and in the works so hopefully things will improve.
