And the radio silence for over two weeks is explained: Eleanor McNeill Ash Forbes, born 12.30pm on Monday 19th October 2009. The most gorgeous baby ever. Fact.
Again, thank you. Until last night, all was generally well (although, after what was officially The Longest Week of My Life in hospital, finally being at home with our new baby wasn't going to be so very stressful.) Until last night, she only cried when she had an immediate issue which needed dealt with (feeding, nappy change, winding.) All suggestions and advice, gratefully received.
Lie elanor down on her back. Lay the palms of your hands on her tummy so that the fingers of each hand are pointing towards her sides. Gently massage the tummy by bringing your hands down her tummy alternately. (It's called a waterwheel, which should give you an idea of the action). Do 6 of those. Then bring her knees into her tummy and hold them there for a count of 6. Then do 6 of the following: Imagine a clock face on her tummy (the 12 is in line with her head). Put your left hand on at about 10 o'clock and massage clockwise round in complete circles. When your left hand gets to about 5 o'clock, start at 11 o'clock with your right hand. Your right hand should stop again at 5 o'clock. Bring your right hand back to 11 o'clock when your left hand reaches 5 o'clock again. It's called "sun and moon". Your left hand does the 'sun' bit (full circles) and your right hand does the moon bit (half circles). Then bring her knees up again for another count of 6
