The obvious reason for changing the system right now is that two petition candidates won in recent elections, and the people in control want to prevent future petition candidates from taking control.
I don't think the system is broken; a whole new constitution is not what we need now.
I have found alumni that I know and respect on both sides of this vote. Ditto for alumni organizations. I am kicking myself for not spending time this weekend reading more. When even national newspapers are running opinions on it, you'd think I could have gotten my act together faster!
I confess that I could not be bothered. Some of my professors are no doubt wincing privately now because I have failed them, but my connection with Dartmouth is tenuous beyond belief.
