Hollywood, I know you're making a boxing movie that just happens to have robots because you need a way to make a boxing movie "different," but.

I really think that someone should have noticed that there is another robot named Atom.

The robot in the new Real Steel movie is named Atom, which happens to be the Japanese and other non-English speaking areas name for Astro Boy.

a.k.a. I spend too much time thinking about Astro Boy and related things and should not be allowed to post reactions to movie news late at night

I thought it was based off of the Richard Matheson short story / episode of The Twilight Zone "Steel".
Hmm, though at least in the episode the name of the robot in question was "Battling Maxo", which doesn't seem too off for Matheson.
Why 'Atom'? It does seem a bit... odd.

(I definitely associate that name with Tetsuwan Atom, having watched the 60s and 80s anime as a kid and read the manga throughout my life. [I'm a big Tezuka fan, so....])
