The house smells fresh like roses

After weeks of life in the house o' stink, we finally got it all taken care of. Of course, in the meantime our propane company billed us for a service call that we made after they installed our new furnace wrong and flooded our basement. I was nice. I told them they should be happy that we were home when their mistake was "discovered" since ( Read more... )

What ended up being the cause of the poopy smells?

I really don't understand you people who think strapping sticks to your feet on slippery cold substances is a fun activity.

Part one of poopy smell was the fact that the prior owners lied to us about when the tank was pumped last, so it needed to be pumped (pleasant). Part two was the fact that because the tank needed to be pumped it stopped filtering through the top vent, so the vent froze on the roof (none of the pipes in the house froze - thank GOD, just the outside vent). So, we either had to climb on the roof and pour hot water down the vent - not an option, I don't need Brian on an icy roof with a gallon of water - or wait for warmer weather. We opted for option B, and as luck would have it yesterday was nice and balmy. :)

I LOVE skiing. The fresh air, the swish, swish of snow under foot. Sigh. Maybe you just haven't had a good skiing experience. How about snow shoes? Same feeling?

I love snow shoes, if it's a day warm enough to be comfortable when you're being active outside.

I've had a string of very bad skiing experiences - getting dragged to the top of a hill that was way too tough for me the first time I went (on top of it being insanely cold, and my glasses constantly fogging), to badly messing up my knee on a baby slope my second time out, to almost skiing of a bridge into a stream the last time I tried cross country skiing.

Not to mention being unable to find ski boots that fit my calves, and being out of shape enough to get completely exhausted in short order when cross country skiing.

Generally, the winter sports and I are not well suited to each other.

And I'm glad to hear that the septic mess was resolved easily. Thank goodness.
