I knew my music lover sense was tingling. Hehe, sorry, just bopping around the journals of my fellow New Yorkers and sayin' hello to the intersting looking ones. And by evoking music, you've drawn me in, in the most effective way possible really.

I agree with a pretty fair amount of what you've put down here, looks good to me. Although you'd have a hard time pitching Jewel as the biggest disappointment to me, or at least the sole biggest disappointment, because Liz Phair, once my favorite indie rock princess, suffered a similar fall as Ms. Kilcher there. Regardless, they both had pretty disgraceful years.

Perhaps a biggest flash in the pan award for Evanescence, who has already broken up. Certainly didn't take long at all.

Anyway, I'll shut up now, sorry, just wanted to say hello. So...hello!

although liz did sell out, i could tolerate her cute catchy song long before i could endure intuition. it was painful. that is so funny about evanesance. i cannot stand them. really.

Hmm...yeah, I'll concede your point. I could listen to the entire new Liz Phair CD on repeat for days before it would cause as much tormented screaming as just one or two plays of "Intuition." Such an ironically titled song, when you think about it, because if she had any intuition, she probably would never have made that album.

I'm normally a pretty big fan of irony, but I think it went a bit too far this time.

And you won't catch me staying up and crying about the loss of Evanescence. I just find the way they exploded funny. Their guitarist left because he was "afraid they weren't a Christian band anymore."

....*laughs hysterically*

hi.
yes, liz phair has disappointed me in a makes-me-roll-my-eyes sort of way. jewel has disappointed me in a makes-me-want-to-vomit-and-then-hunt-her-down-and-lock-her-up sort of way.
and oh evanescence. for shame. for sure.

So Great! Great list. That was hard. I think you are right on, but I am not so sure about The darkness being the best album. I like it... I really like "I believe in A thing called love", but the best album? hmm what are your reasons behind that. It is a good album but the best? And for the record I HATE the Beyonce song. I know I am probably the only one on the planet, but it really annoys me.

Good job

the beyonce song was such a huge hit. although i am sick of it now, i loved it for a while. it was at every fashion show. also, as far as the darkness goes, they were so contraversial and they blew up so fast that we thought they deserved the honors. that is my current favorite song to sing at the top of my lungs.

well permission to land is not my favorite cd on the list for sure, but i think it might be the best. partly because i feel like every band has been taking something that has already been done and trying to make it better, and the darkness mastered the art of that. they made me appreciate queen more, for one...i was never a real fan of queen until i went back and listened to them after hearing such heavy comparison to the darkness, and now i give them so much credit. that's progress to me, where music is going. the darkness made it their own. and also, i feel like they can manipulate listeners like nobody else, and in a good way. they are able to trick people into screaming a song about heroin or satan at the top of their lungs, like it's a big party. i admire that. i don't know, i feel like the album is pretty straightforward and distinct, not overly brooding, and not afraid to be fun, but still metal at the same time. and his voice...oh, his voice. so that's why i stand by the darkness ( ... )
