Although I'm physically exhausted from yet another week of sleep deprivation and early morning workdays, attempting to sleep anytime before midnight would be an exercise in futility. Likewise, I don't have the motivation or energy to do something extremely productive like chores or errands, so I find myself with a prime opportunity for a journal ( Read more... )

Don't forget to tell me what kind of cake you want!

I'm excited by the upcoming immaculate confection; a guava cake sounds delicious without being overly complicated, although I doubt guavas are in season anywhere.

Ooh, that one has some of my favorite spices in it!

I don't know where I would get guava, though. Maybe at the Asian food market?

Good call... there is an Asian food market downtown. I suppose if it's not available there, it might be at one of the other ethnic food establishments. Then again, I've never sought out guavas before, fresh or canned.

Thanks... I suppose I have my moments, although I'd like to think it's so clever and entertaining because it's true.

If nothing more, at least I'm capable of channeling my inner-Cordelia or inner-Jane.

If I am ANYWHERE near Nor. Cal on December 20, I will be there. For real.

Sadly, I don't think I will be though. *tear*

That would be phenomenal; however, I didn't anticipate your arrival until much closer to the holidays. Speaking of that, when will you be in Northern California? It would be a shame for us to be close to each other and for me to miss the opportunity to bask in your awesomeness.

Regardless, visiting you and Nick in Southern California is nearing the top of my to-do list.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that I might actually be an anthropologist at heart. However, instead of digging through abandoned artifacts and international culture differences, I'm digging through the many layers of oppression this society places on particular individuals.

That being said, after doing the grad school thing once, I doubt I could foster the ambition and perseverance necessary to do grad school again for an anthropology degree.

Most people, at the end of that quote, would have put "commute", but as usual, I like your answer better. :-)

Damn, I would totally attend your birthday party if I was near the west coast. I reserve the right to send a life-size cardboard replica of myself to attend in my stead.

A cardboard D would be the ultimate party accessory; in fact, I would actually request it as a birthday present except that I doubt I could handle its two-dimensional splendor.

Fortunately, with your arrival in January, there will be many opportunities for celebration. If nothing more, we could combine a belated birthday celebration with all of the other festivities that await you and Luci.
