It's even worse when you're rereading old HP fic from before the days of widespread Britpicking. Oh man, that was the Wild West of fandom for real.

I know omg. I've been having a wave of nostalgia for old fics...and I keep stumbling across fic moments that make me go Remember when we forced the studio to change Tom Riddle's gravemarker through sheer internet rage?...and some of them still make me laugh/cry/cheer, but some make me wince.

There isn't any canon in comics! Or rather, ALL THE CANONS ARE DIFFERENT AND ALL ARE EQUALLY VALID AND ALL ARE IN A FORM THAT MY BRAIN IS INCAPABLE OF PROCESSING. Bah.
