Expo-ing at Book Expo America
This year's Book Expo America (BEA) was amazing. I know industry professionals belly-ache about how "down" the industry is and how everyone is scaling back their presence at the big conventions, but there was no sign of that last week at the 2010 BEA (with the exception of a few major publishers who were absent... pfffththhthth!)
Rather than giving you a play-by-play rundown of the event, I've decided to do a photo montage. Of course, it wouldn't be my blog if I didn't add my two-cents here and there.
Here is the UFO landing in my hotel lobby.
Here are the teeny-tiny quarters I lived in, which convinced me I was actually on the UFO.

A worried looking Lemony Snicket. I missed him by an inch with the anvil I had poised above his head.
Then came my book signing. It was mega-awesome. I was only there for a half hour, but I could not sign books quickly enough. So much great feedback and so much FUN!
Here is YA book blogger, Genevieve Thursday, and author of Knightley Academy, Violet Haberdasher. You guys rock!
Then, I hung out with the always-entertaining David Lubar.
And we came across one of my favorites, Laurie Halse Anderson.
And TONY HAWK???
And OLIVIA???
Then came the most-excellent and entertaining panel discussion among male children's literature titans (from left) Jeff Kinney, Adam Rex, David Lubar, Mac Barnett and Jon Scieszka with their editor for the forthcoming anthology, GUY'S READ, Jordan Brown. These guts rocked the panel. BTW if you look closely at the screen above them you will see me all the way to the right taking my photo, but then you will be zapped into a infinite photo-taking loop/vortex thingy. BEWARE!!
And to cap off a most-excellent two days...
Me and Jon Scieszka who should really start spelling his name phonetically. And in case I have not used the word 'awesome' enough times, BEA 2010 was awesome, awesome, awesome!
