Ah, Doctor Who, how I love thee!
I really enjoyed this one, Martha kicked ass! The actress playing Lilith was really good, though I can't work out what she's been in before. In brief, the episode was good, lots of fun references to all sorts of things which kept me more than entertained.
Some of my favourite parts:
- Harry Potter references! "Ooh, I cried!"
- Gay Shakespeare entertains me, can you imagine him and Captain Jack together? That's an episode I'd love to see...
- Time travel meaning the Doctor has annoyed Queen Elizabeth - I can't wait to see that one.
- The Doctor trying to explain time travel using Back to the Future!
- The Doctor feeding Shakespeare his own lines
- Martha being the 'Dark Lady'
- Shakespeare being a bit cocky, but very genius so he can see the psychic paper for what it is.
- In both this and the last one, I love the Doctor's references to not liking to explain things to the new companion and starting from the beginning. (Specially loved him mouthing 'Bigger on the inside' last week)
- Why does he carry a toothbrush in his pocket?
- He's so clueless about Martha when they're on that bed.
I know lots of people are sick of the Rose references, but I think they're justified (to some extent) at least for now. I don't want Rose to overshadow Martha though. Martha is wonderful in her own way, I really like her thus far and I worry that too many references to Rose will spoil it. On the other hand, I don't want the Doctor to forget her entirely. He just needs to be careful when he brings her up!
Face of Boe next week - yay!
Huzzah!
