Genderflipped Silmarillion: The Sindar

Jul 02, 2011 21:38

Feanorians / Nolofinweans / Arafinweans

And finally, the Sindar:

Thingol - Helen Mirren

(I tried to find a picture of her looking grumpy, really I did. Possibly this version of Thingol is better at hiding her revulsion towards mortals, Noldor and generally non-Sindar folk.)

Her husband is Melian - Tobias Menzies

And their son is Luthien - Harry Lloyd

To his mother's horror, he falls in love with Beren - Danielle Cormack - and they go on an epic quest for the Silmaril, running into several other people featured in this series previously.

Astonishingly, they succeed, and go on to live mostly happily ever after. Their daughter is Dior - Emilia Clarke

And in the fullness of time, she marries Nimloth - Jon Hamm

And shortly after they learn that the Feanorians do not give you any second chances. But that's depressing! So here are some other notable Sindar:

Daeron - Andrea Riseborough

Beleg - Rhona Mitra

Mablung - Milla Jovovich

Nellas - Sam Claflin

And finally, Celeborn - Yvonne Strahovski

And we are done!

Things I have learned from this little endeavour: Google is not always the best source of pictures, fancastings can become rapidly incestuous if you take actors from the same show, some characters cast themselves immediately and some like torturing you (I am still not 100% happy with Nimloth, but I don't think I'll be able to do better) and what I really want you to take away from this is the mental image of Tom Hiddlestone and Yvonne Strahovski making out and being the best power couple in Middle-earth. You're welcome.
