Girly-ness

Right... So when I said that 2 and 3 were winning out, it happened. I've made an appt for the 26th to see a Senior Stylist at one of the Aveda spas here in the Richmond area for a pre-consult on just what sort of prices my hair would run. I've already warned them that it's exceptionally long and I'm looking for a new style, some color, and possibly ( Read more... )

The good news is that they'll definitely be able to do a real good job with the color. Although, they may strongly recommend blonde highlights over red, since the blonde-over-brunette look is currently "hawt".

The bad news is that, given the length of your hair, there are serious limits to what kinds of styles they can use. Simply put, with that much total hair, gravity foils everything. They can give you "long layers" all the way down, perhaps, but then you'd look like Cher circa 1978. :-/

You may have a tough choice. I know what it's like to be attached to long hair, but you might have to shorten it to at least mid-shoulder-blade in order to apply a modern styling to it.

This should go without saying, but - either way, make sure you consult with the hubby before doing anything too drastic.

I've had both blonde and red highlights before. The red looked better with my pale complexion and my hair's natural slight reddish tint. It also sets me apart from my siblings, since they either have dirty-blonde/ash-blonde hair or they color it to that shade. (One is currently without hair due to chemo, but hers is dark blonde when it comes in.)

I'll be willing to lose some length and possibly go with long bangs (I know the chin-length bangs seem to be in from what I'm seeing). I'm just not up for something short, either bob or pixie cut. We'll see what they come up with.
