Hot Fun in the Summertime!

Woot! I applied to to this program called EIL (the Experiment in International Living), to go abroad for the summer. We had our pick of at least 20 countries, and then had to narrow it down to three in the application (which seemed infinitely long).  My first choice was South Africa, a community service and travel program - my mom was dead set on ( Read more... )

I can't wait to go, and I hope the language won't be too much of a barrier, since the family I stay with for part of the trip might not speak English!

I'm so sorry I missed your show. I actually didn't find out about it until the Wednesday before on your Myspace comment - I hardly go on there, lol, so emails are generally a better bet - and I couldn't make it Thursday and Friday.

How did it go? And congrats to Eric! (The last part is random, but I just remembered).

Yes! Yes! Go, girl! I did EIL, too, in Belize. And actually, Belize hadn't been any of my choices, but I'm so glad I got it. I don't know if I should hype it up at all but...oh, what the hell. You'll have whatever experience you'll have. But for me? Quite possibly the best month of my life. I mean, you know, in a single month. And definitely some of my happiest memories.

I hope you have an amazing time. Italy's a beautiful country, from the little I've seen of it, and the language...bellisima. Do you speak any? (I don't)

Btw, I've been meaning to ask you--did you ever have Mr. Daly as an English teacher in Prep?

You did EIL too??!!! That's amazing! And definitely hype it up; I'm excited. I haven't heard any bad things about it, actually, and some of the best "reports" have been from people who didn't get what they expected.

I don't speak Italian at all, but I've taken Spanish every year in high school, so hopefully that should make it easier ( I hope that's not just my wishful thinking). I'm so curious about the entire experience. How was your home stay?

I didn't have a Mr. Daly for English, I haven't ever heard of him, so maybe he left before I came. I had Mrs. Duffy and then Mr... Wait, his name isn't coming to me right now, but I know it wasn't Daly. Why? Was he a good teacher?

Yeah. Mr. Daly...English god. But I keep forgetting--you're in regular Prep, right? I'm Prep 9.
