You mum actually has a point. Try not to do something that you'll regret for the rest of your life. It's a small price to pay at this point.
Dude, if someone judges themselves against others strictly on an academic level, they have some problems to work through. Tell me when the fuck you're going to use calculus? Sure, it's swell to know, but it's void if it's stagnant.
Yeah, she has a very good point, it's just that I hate all this ''must get good exam results!'' bullshit. Excuse me, but I'm not going to need to know how the fuck algebra works everytime I go shopping. And the 'ambiance' just sucks at school. I feel like there's something wrong with me when everyone in the class is running around panicking about math tests, and I'm just sitting at the desk staring into space and not giving a fuck.
And I DO the work (except the maths), but doing the work isn't good enough, they try and and tell me what to do OUTSIDE of school hours. What the fuck.
You're there 8+ hours per day and they expect you to study four four hours when you get home... "Hi, I'm a very busy person, and no, I'm not out on the town, thanks."
you're NOT retarded, at all. you're one of the smartest people i know... and whatever they say, don't let them bring you down. as you said, you ARE smart!
It's just a handful of years more and the high school diploma really helps, possibly even more than a college degree does. Many employers won't even touch someone without a diploma.
A friend of my uncle has a posh nob hotel in Dublin, and he called to offer me a job there. I could just work in a hotel all my life, and sleep my way up to the top. ;)
If you did drop out what would you do? Get a job? I don't know what it's like there but here the only jobs open to people who haven't got their GCSE's (the exams we sit when we are sixteen) are waitressing and cleaning. Once they get to eighteen they normally find they end up getting sacked, and then have a heck of a problem finding work because people don't want to have to pay an unqualified eighteen year old the national minimum wage when they can get someone who is fifteen, has no qualifications and isn't covered under the minimum wage so they can pay them next to nothing
( ... )
And if you drop out, is there any chance you can go back to school in a couple of years, so you can get some education if needed to get a job?
As Becki I almost dropped out of my high school but somehow I managed to go to enough classes to graduate but I'm not proud of my grades as I know I'm 10 times better than that... so I might take up some classes along the line... I don't know.
