Need help from yanks, preferably ones with, like, an educationI've got an exam tomorrow on ''L'économie des Etats-Unis''. Well, that's one section anyway

But basically, we have one of the most deregulated economies in the world, where mega-corporations like Disney and General Electric own smaller companies.
Christine's making me leave now. I'll post more later.
Business laws and taxes vary from state to state, the trend in vogue is to deregulate industries, reduce taxes, and trim social safety nets. The government does run a handful of businesses here and there, but they're far and few between.
In theory, it's based on supply and demand, but corporate welfare, government contracts with private industry, NAFTA (which allows American companies to reap the huge benefits of hiring Central and South American workers for a fraction of what it costs to hire Americans, and American companies that move their headquarters offshore to avoid taxation end up creating a very skewed system that is more akin to corporate-favored socialism than capitalism. Holy run-on sentence.
Oh yeah, and a huge percentage of the world's wealth flows into the United States.
If you want a less cynical (and simplified) view of the economy: We're a capitalist nation that favors individualism and self-reliance.
its a market economy, the basic rules of supply and demand apply, taxes very from state to state and are on different items i.e. sales, property, income ect.
thats all i can think of.. it is summer and all sorry babe! Good luck!

Okay, the cock imagery REALLY helped me remember this. And if I get stuck in the exam, I'll use cock imagery as a last resort. I would give you a 9 out of 10 for your teaching abilities, because you're very clear, but you can't have a 10 because you're polluting my under-aged brain with penii.
By the way, I'm curious... how many languages do you speak? Because of our big mostly mono-linguistic country most of us Americans are lucky if we know more than one. Which I don't, by the way.
They do teach languages in public schools (like the one I went to) over here, but not until you're about 14, which is dumb, considering that it's best to start seriously learning a second language at a very early age.
By that time my brain was so engraved with English that learning another language just wasn't working well. Part of it is my own fault too, because I'm sure I could've learned Spanish to an okay degree if I'd bothered to try hard enough.
Ah well. At least I can speak spanish for retards: Yo tengo bueno Ingles. Me Ingles es so bueno, es muy bueno, Hefe."
Meh, I attempted to teach myself Japanese and German once, but about.com is not the most reliable thing if you have nowhere to practise actually speaking it.
