Well I found a weakness, apparently in my Achilles tendon. My foot has been bothering me for about a month, I figured it was my gout flaring up. I apparently have been "overtraining" and strained and almost ripped my achilles tendon

I've had surgery on both of mine, so I know that these things take time to heal. Plus, seeing an injured Gabe Kapler in 2005 has scared me from taking any risk involving the achillies tendon.
I know it would be tough not to do Pennsic, ( since I'm not going this year ) The safest thing to do would be to sit it out and wait til next year to make sure the tendon has healed up... but I understand if you take the risk and go!
Ow! Now the question is whether you can stop yourself from doing too much, not only at Pennsic, but any time you're around fighters, or friends for that matter.
Probably not, least i don't want to. :) I know my limits but this doesnt hurt til after the limit has been passed, usually a few hours later. We'll see...
