An offer you can't refuse (I hope)!

This tale must begin with my dear friend Melissa (aka "Fiver"), who was diagnosed with Lou Gerhig's Disease, or ALS, just before her 35th birthday. ALS is a hideous, vicious disease that gradually but relentlessly deprives its victims of all voluntary and involuntary muscle reaction, eventually resulting in death. And if there's ever a person in ( Read more... )

I can't think of any word better than "tragic" to sum up what's happened to your friend---I'm so sorry. It's awful.

I'm there with the fic for worthy cause! I'll do nearly anything for custom-made fic. :) So, I haven't donated yet, but plan to. I'll let you know when I do.

My question: Would you be averse to writing MPREG? Specifically, pregnant Frodo being cared for by his healer Aragorn (non-slash) with graphic medical content such as an examination, etc.? :D

For this cause, I will write anything you wish (though I suspect Fiver/Frodo would probably drop her teeth at the idea--but she doesn't have to read it now, does she? :D). Do you want entirely serious, or do you like a lighthearted touch? (I remember Mariole wrote one for you once that literally had me laughing until I choked, and it was brilliant.)

Oh, you are awesome! I will plan to donate tonight---if not, tomorrow. I'll let you know.

agskskjakjkjkj about the fic! Do you mind if I send you the fic request info in an e-mail, so that I don't have to put it here in your comments where it might shock others who aren't into such? :)

If so, I'll e-mail you tonight.

Email is fine. But my friendslist could probably stand a good shock now and then, just to keep 'em on their toes. ;-) I'll keep an eye on the inbox.

I didn't know you'd been feeling ill for so long, dear one.

I'll be donating to the Fiver Fund, absolutely. Should we put "Fiver" on the donation form, or Melissa's name?

*tight hugs*

Thanks a million for your support, J. You can put whatever you like on the form; she goes by both names pretty much interchangeably. :-) You know how it is in fandom...

As for me, I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, so I'm never really 100% well. This has just been a particularly rough year. But compared to ALS, my problems are insubstantial.

*hugs* back atcha! And be sure to let me know what sort of fic you'd like!

I made a donation, but I'm not asking for anything to be written. Just concentrate on being well and working on your own stories! I'm so sorry for your friend. My supervisor brought in a couple of photo albums that we were looking through this morning, and there were a number of photos of one of our coworkers who had ALS. It's a hideous disease.

Thank you so much, luv! But I *want* to write something for my friends who are supporting this cause. How about I finish one of my Woodjin WIPs for you? I think I have three going at the moment, but it might be four. *needs a secretary*

ALS is indeed a horrid disease. And of course, nobody *deserves* it, but I don't think there's a one of Melissa's friends that wouldn't give her a lung and a kidney in a heartbeat if it meant we could spare her this torment. She's just that special. So I really do appreciate your backing her team! (((((hugs)))))

My donation has been made, but like Ellen, I'm not asking for a fic. It's a good charity and I'm happy to donate.

And I'm sorry that you have been ill most of the year, I hope that you are feeling better soon!

Thank you so much for your support!!!! It is indeed a good charity; there's not many I know of that provide direct assistance to current sufferers the way this one does.

I appreciate your good wishes for my own health. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, so I'm never really 100%, but this has just been a tough year. It's peanuts compared to ALS, though, so I shouldn't gripe (even though I do!!).

I'm really more than happy to do the fic if you change your mind. But either way, I sincerely do appreciate your help. (((((hugs)))))

Oh, my God, Mews. I knew you'd lost your husband, but I didn't realize he'd had ALS. I'm so very sorry. It's incredibly generous of you to support Mel's team, and I sincerely appreciate it. I guess you understand better than anyone how much the equipment loans in particular can change the patients' lives. I can't tell you HOW MUCH I hope they find a cure for this scourge, or at least a way to slow it down until they do.

Please let me know if you'd like a fic. I really do enjoy writing them; it's FINISHING them that seems to give me fits, but having a specific goal like this one is a good motivator. :-)

(((((hugs)))))
