Computer woes--will be away from LJ

Tomorrow or the next day, I'm going to be putting my laptop in the shop to fix an increasingly annoying touchpad and keyboard electronics glitch (yaye for extended warranties!). This feels rather like knowing I'm about to have my right hand amputated. But it basically means I'm going to be borrowing computers catch-as-catch-can, and I'll be mostly ( Read more... )

Thanks, hon! I *think* it's going to be a quick fix. Let's hope it's not one of those "oh, it's just a belt" that turns out to be "you need a new transmission!" type of things. ;-) (Not sure what would qualify as a transmission in a computer, but you get the idea...)

Me too!!!! Most of the "brains" seem to be fine--it's just that the keypad and mouse have started spontaneously inserting clicks and characters. I'm not sure if I need a repair technician or an exorcism...

Thanks, hon. I have several I can steal as needed; I just don't want to duplicate all my settings and reading filters and such on some other poor soul's machine. (I typically have 80-100 tabs open in Firefox, for example.) So I'm going to be doing the basic check-n-go until I get my own baby back!
