the day you eat of the fruit of that tree,

you will surely not die

and that Jesus Christ was a white, middle-class republican”

Did you see Derek Webb in concert or something? He played at my church here at school a couple months ago and everyone was talking about Christianity and politics afterward.

Nope, I've never seen him. I just love his lyrics, they make me think. I would love to see him in concert sometime though. He's a smart man.

Well, I'm not a big rules guy. But I will say that I think Christians should fight for a government that does right. If we don't get it, okay, endure and turn the other cheek and all that stuff. But while there is still some chance, we should still fight for good.

On the other hand, I think that governmentally enforced Christianity (or any religion for that matter) is a poor, poor idea. Just as we all have to choose to accept God or not in an internal way, everyone should have the same rights in an external way.

Absolutely. I just disagree when Christians that belong to one party they think it's necessary for all Christians to belong to that specific party. In no way does that mean we all need to belong to the same party, but if we divide ourselves and fight against each other, where does that get us? We are all working for the eternal good of our country...why does it matter if some of us are Republican and some Democratic?

and while I do understand that our country obviously needs rule to survive, my point was more that we should be loving our country/government no matter what party is in charge

Yes, and good!

I commented because your post reminded me of a common wrestling thought of mine:

When do we cross the line between doing good and legislating Christian ideas.

It's so blurry sometimes.
