Re: Buffy, when I first watched the show I did take a while to warm to her, partly because the US high school experience is so alien to me, I suppose. But I've grown to love her more and more over the years. She's a true hero in the sense that very - very few women are allowed to be in fiction. Brave and flawed, and with a huge heart that keeps on loving despite all the battering it gets from every side. There are a few times I'm disappointed in her (notably, that she doesn't stick up for Anya and Spike at the end of Entropy), but I love her to bits.
Very hard character to write a nuanced portrait of. Same is true of Spike.
Never hesitate to share or post! Just as we appreciate the nuances of the characters, the discussions are better the more perspectives and ideas that get shared.
