Drabble Babble
Here's the thing about Buffy and Spike. An unfortunate thing. A strange, coinciding thing. Something none of us would have ever guessed.
They both feel very strongly about marriage.
Unfortunate, since Will magically induced an engagement between our friendly neighborhood sworn enemies. We can't convince Buffy that it's a spell. "I know how I feel,"she says. And she's afraid that we're going to try and take it away, take Spike away. I mean, I knew she had an issue with guys not committing, but this is a whole different ball of wax. Buffy's philosophy? The one she never told any of us, not even Will? Buffy doesn't want to end up like her parents. Marriage is a one-time deal for her. Once she's there, she's there to make it work. No matter how choppy those relationship waters get

what a wonderful piece - I don't think I've ever come across this type of exploration before - the connection to their history and how it is playing out during the spell.

You have a powerful sense of voice in this one. I can just hear Xander saying these things, it's disctinctive and I love some of the terms you use "friendly neighborhood sworn enemies" is perfect. Seriously annoying fashion reject...isn't Xander one to point fingers when it come to fashion. lol.
I never thought about it before, the way that Spike and Buffy both approach relationships, and that ultimately they do want the same thing. Someone who loves and understands them, won't cramp their style and appreciates their strengths and encourages them to face their weaknesses.

*shiver* ooh this is so good. Spike wanting Slayers (first to kill then to love) that's nothing new. But the way you have Buffy work it out is especially chilling and tantalizing. Really nicely done!
