Kathleen, has something happened to the original link you posted on the shoutbox? I can't reach the "spuffy family" page now - it says access is denied. It also tells me on my own page that I'm not allowed to read the messages (including the one from you) in response to my earlier post there. ???

I did a stupid (blame the Bailey's) and since I put the post here I set the one on my LJ to private thinking no one else was going to comment on my LJ and this one would be where the discussions would be happening. I switched it back to public so it's accessible again.

All should work fine now.

*hugs*
Kathleen

Things we can do msdianaaundrea November 21 2016, 20:55:36 UTC
I have a friend on Facebook who is great at activism. She started a secret group for those of us looking for ways to help. I will start posting some of the links here. I am still not okay after this election and I am glad I am not alone in that. As facebook seems to tell me otherwise.

One gets a very distorted view of (un)reality from FB these days. One can't avoid it entirely but it's not great for a person's mental health. It's scary right now. Things may prove to be less dire than we fear but at this point there's no way to know for certain what will happen.

One thing people tend to forget is that clicking a link on an online petition is often not nearly as effective as a phone call or old-fashioned snail mail. Most officials and their staffs know the difference between a mouse click and someone actually making the effort to place a phone call or compose a letter/individual email. Some simply don't care that much about public opinion unless it actively affects their chances of getting re-elected, but for some it does make a difference.

So true. I have a few online petitions I have looked at but I have a very in depth sheet about calling our reps. You are right, the more phone calls they get, the more voice mails they receive the more letters about our outrage will make them sit up and pay attention more than a 'like' on Facebook anyway.

I have more to post, don't worry the links to our Senators and Reps are coming for those that don't have them yet.

Call the automated system to support the ACA msdianaaundrea November 21 2016, 21:01:42 UTC
This is information on how to send your support for the Affordable Care Act. Press 2 to support it and then 1 to avoid the anti ACA message. It's automated no speaking to real humans required.

Voting with your dollars suggestions. msdianaaundrea November 21 2016, 21:09:43 UTC
Some of you might have seen similar lists but here is another one. Can't hurt to look through.

Also, some of the more in between companies listen to and consider complaints. A friend of mine contacted a company she orders form all the time to express her concern about their political contributions. They did actually respond to her, so if you are a loyal customer speak up.

Action Group Network msdianaaundrea November 21 2016, 22:47:33 UTC
This is another link to a very new group. They are in the process of getting up and running but their purpose is to give us a chance to organize in our own areas. Sign up and give them some time to get back to you and check back as they are planning to update soon. This was created by Beau Williams who is the creator of House of Cards.
