EF Reader Recs for 2016

Jan 02, 2017 08:16

Happy New Year! I hope 2017 finds everyone happy, warm, and safe! Last year (2016) was a great year to be a Spuffy shipper (everything else...er...lets not talk about that), especially here on EF. We were blessed with tons of amazing stories, both long and short, by both new and established writers. With so much weath and most of us having so ( Read more... )

Another long saga that isn't complete yet but well worthy of reading is

Enemy's Heartstrings by AGriffinWriter

Season 2 AU: There's a dangerous vampire in town, William the Bloody, and Buffy can't help but enjoy their encounters more than she should. This new Big Bad is cunning, clever, handsome... and soulless. But does a man really need a soul to be able to love?

I'll probably post some more as I think of it there were SO many great stories written or updated in 2016. The Anniversary challenges alone were all outstanding.

So, having never created a LJ account before (even though I’m desperate to read Crave by Nautibitz - PM me on EF if you have a copy you are kind enough to send or tell me how I can get a copy, I’d be forever in your debt x) I haven't been able to keep my EF name, sadly. But, hey, you all know me as -Carrie-Ann- and these are my top recs of 2016 and these are by no means the only one's I enjoyed. All of the writers on EF are amazing and I'm always astonished by the brilliant works which keep us entertained and I bow before you all, you are truly excellent.
Thanks so much to Sunalso for creating this page x
I've included one of my own reviews from each story alongside each rec and I hope you enjoy them too, they will have to come in 4 parts as I’ve exceeded the word count for LJ xx

In no particular order:

Continued comment for 'The Carnivorous Carnival'

'Very well done, imaginative and very hot in places! You have a right to be very proud of your work here!'

Hunger by Sunalso - http://dark-solace.org/elysian/viewstory.php?sid=5201

'Smoking hot kiss at the beginning there, I had to fan my face.'

Insubstantial by flootzavut - http://dark-solace.org/elysian/viewstory.php?sid=5129

Quote from the story: He's absolutely sure she'd rather keep her last memory of him as a hero going up in flames to save the world, rather than a pathetic ghostly being, scared out of his mind by the chasm opening beneath him.

'I really felt for Spike here as he wasn't pathetic at all. Us lesser mortals would have lost our minds when the ghosties appeared. Spike was maybe a little afraid here but never usually afraid of ghosties and nasties. Wonderful chapter as always.'

Please don't think I'm a total eijit, its my first time here *pouting lip* sorry but my great idea of posting my reviews with my faves has gone awry, love you all xx

But Where Have All the Wings Gone? by Gort, Sunalso - http://dark-solace.org/elysian/viewstory.php?sid=5085

'This story is crazy and so much fun, cant wait for the next chapter!'

Strange Land by zabjade - http://dark-solace.org/elysian/viewstory.php?sid=5104

'I liked the gender play but was concerned about how far Buffy may have taken things if Spike hadn't agreed. She's clearly hurting, powerless etc. I'm still clutching my thighs together from the last chapter!'

Slayer Rising by Sigyn - http://dark-solace.org/elysian/viewstory.php?sid=5105

'Aww, what an ending! This story was everything I'd hoped it would be and ( ... )

And so a last few recs, I really do hope you liked the one's I've added so far:

Thursday's Child by zabjade - http://dark-solace.org/elysian/viewstory.php?sid=4498

I have to tell you, life was very hectic when I read this and I'll admit I was a liker and not a reviewer at that point, life was a bit crappy. I wish I'd told zab how amazing this story was because it truly was, hopefully zab may read this now and know how much I adored it x

Last (but by no means least) is possibly one of the best slow burn's I've ever read:
Sparks in the Water by Linnae13 - http://dark-solace.org/elysian/viewstory.php?sid=4378

'Your story is one of two I cant wait for updates on. You still have me hooked! Can't wait for Buffy to fulfil her promise'P.s. Just adding one last one which I thought finished in 2015 but has made it in by the skin of its teeth as I've just been reminded, ( ... )
