What do you think of his response about the fans?

for non TW or TW FAns that are Fans of SPN & SPN J2 fans he makes a comment that I think you will laugh at.

I ROFL'ed about the SPN stuff, however the rest of the interview was BS. I think killing off Ianto is going to make a MAJOR impact on how many people watch the show... especially since there are no plans to bring the character back. The Ianto/Jack relationship was what pulled me into the show and I know of several people who feel the same. I don't think TW will be back.

I can almost live with Ianto's death to some degree but RTD has said in some interview or some place Spy was telling me that TW was suppose to be a hub for Jack and be controversial and trend setting.

Without Jack and also without Jack/Ianto even if they just make unrequited love to begin with the show is not TW.

and I jsut want to add I think his comments are a bunch of bullshit

IT is like Spy says RTD broke his toys so NO ONE else can play with them.

WIthout Jack there is NO TW, IMHO

But I thought that the focus of the show was Gwen all along. So in RTD's mind, Captain Jack was just necessary to pull the sci fi Doctor Who fans in.

And I really liked Captain Jack Harkness. Intergalatic Man Whore. (And I say that lovingly.)

I know I won't be buying any CoE dvds, or Season 4 of Torchwood.

And I'm starting to not be surprised by RTD doing this. Way back before he got involved with DW, he had an idea for an ex-cop joining an alien fighting force. I think it was to be Excalibur. It didn't get the green light. After he got involved with DW, he re-tooled it, added Jack Harkness, and came up with Torchwood.

So to RTD the focus of Torchwood has been Gwen Cooper all along. IMHO, RTD was lying to the fans from the beginning.

Sigh... I'll miss JB and GDL in Torchwood.

I also so don't want to watch any 'merican shows RTD might come up with. I get the feeling he's worse than Joss Whedon. JW will kill off his characters just as soon as you fall in love with them. I get the feeling RTD will kill them off just for the hell of it. And then laugh at crying fans.

I've posted some thoughts over in my LJ, after my sister commented that she agreed with him and that "real" fans of the show would watch it regardless. Which really is BS.

I'm sure any Stargate fan well remembers the Daniel debacle and the episode that shall not be named.

You cannot underestimate people's love for a character, however irrational that may seem.

At least when Joss Whedon killed Joyce in Buffy, it *meant* something, it wasn't just for the shock value.

Still, he's ensured people keep talking about the show, which is good for him :shrugs:

I totally agree it is BS.

To me it is like RTD chose to kill Ianto and have Jack use his grandson was for shock value and I guess if I really think about it Ianto's death is what pushed Jack to use his grandson which in turned save the world.

I just like to think that there are better ways to accomplish those things without alienating your fan base and sort of destroying Jack.

Cause at the end of part 5 I was like well he broke Jack and now it is the Gwen show. ANd I like Gwen when the writers write her the right way like they did in COE....but TW is for Jack.

I guess to me you have no TW without Jack. RTD supposedly has said that TW was made for Jack and the way he left earth he seems to broken to be the hero anymore.

I heard that the show is suppose to be more Americanize for this market so no more gay relationship which is terrible.

I don't watch the show and I have no idea who this guy is, but I amused that he apparently ships Sam/Dean!
