Who: Atem, Akefia, Yugi
Where: The Wonder Twins' apartment
Warnings: Fluff and swearing. Maybe a friendship speech

Akefia supposed he owed it to Yugi to come see him once and awhile. It was something friends did or something like that. It really wasn't all that long after the room change. The thief was perfectly content being on the lower level and ( Read more... )

The one who answered the door, however, was not the violet-eyed Japanese but rather the red-eyed Egyptian. This really wasn't an all-too surprising situation, given the bond between Atem and Yuugi, but maybe the posture said something otherwise.

Atem half-draped himself against the door frame, as though he'd just woken up and hadn't quite reached wakefulness yet. Which was entirely possible, considering that it took him a moment to recognize the figure in front of him. Palms braced against the doorframe and the diminutive pharaoh straightened, eyes turning up to meet the thief's.

Now, this registered a bit awkwardly in Atem's head. All things considered, he felt he had a right to have that sort of reaction. So, to cover up his unease, he cocked his head back in an arrogant enough manner and arched a brow.

"What?"

Slate colored eyes narrowed dangerously as Atem leaned against the door. It never occurred to him that Atem and Yugi might be rooming together. Nor did he think that Atem might be just spending the night. No, his mind jumped to something else. A thought which made the thief clench one hand into a fist.

"What the hell are you doing here? I came to see Yugi..."

Oh see the kitty fluff and growl. Though... He wasn't exactly sure what he was upset about.

Atem blinked, straightening up while that brow arched higher. The Hell was getting the thief so riled up. Okay, maybe his choice of reception hadn't been the greatest, but what else was he supposed to do? This was awkward! ...Mostly because of various conflicts he didn't feel like acknowledging right now. But.

"I've been moved here, that's what the Hell I'm doing here," Atem replied evenly. His arms lifted to fold across his chest, weight settling to his left foot as he kept the thief in proper perspective. No, this amounted to "annoyed". "And you could ask to come in instead of demanding reason for my presence, thief." Distance. That wasn't going to turn out too well, was it? Not that Atem was considering it. This was just very irritating.

Akefia was gritting his teeth as Atem spoke but someone the Pharaoh's words reached him. He blinked a few times and blankly stared at the other Egyptian. "I thought.. You were here and looking like that because you were sleeping with him. That's why I was about to deck you."

Anger turned to awkwardness and the thief grunted and looked away, ever careful to expose the unmarred cheek to the other. He had no idea what to do in awkward situations. He would of preferred to remain pissed off.

...

Wait, what? Atem's expression was the picture of blank confusion for a moment before the statement settled in place. Between everything that had happened since he arrived, this wasn't the strangest thing he'd heard or seen. It did rank among the more... awkward ends, though. Carefully clearing his throat, Atem closed one eye while he kept the other on the thief. He knew why Akefia would have slugged him, and he really wasn't surprised that Akefia jumped to that conclusion when he thought about it. Posture, location, no doubt past experience with something similar...

Atem waved it all off as Akefia being over-reactive.

"Whatever. I think aibou's awake, if you still want to see him."
