when you're testing out a pen, or trying to get it to work, what do you write? do you write words, names, a sentence, draw, or just scribble?

i usually draw some straight lines and then start writing 'hello' and 'how are you' a couple times. angry scribbles if the pen is pissing me off...

I start of with a few wavy scribbles in the horizontal direction. Then, I proceed with circles, or more accurately, springs. Finally, I test the vertical component of the pen by scratching it up and down.
