The odds have certainly been in MY favor.

This week has been out of control as far as fangirling goes. I've already seen Catching Fire twice, all the Doctor Who madness, Frozen coming out...it's too much. I am exhausted from feels. And from the overwhelming love I have for Effie fucking Trinket and everything she is and everything she's becoming. And every choice Elizabeth Banks has made ( Read more... )

I thought of you when I was watching the movie! Effie was so fantastically perfect. ♥

I think my favorite moment of hers was when she pulls Katniss's name out of the bowl, but basically everything Effie was made of awesome.

I wish I had time to fangirl this movie. :(

THERE IS ALWAYS TIME TO FANGIRL!

And thank you for thinking of me!!! That is so ridiculously sweet. I live for Effie and I just...I love her so much it hurts me.

The reaping scene ripped my heart out and stomped all over it. But when she said goodbye to them and apologized? Forget about it. Gross sobbing. My favorite quote I've heard from EBanks recently was about how Effie is going to find herself on the wrong side of history but that her eyes have been opened now and GOD that is just AMAZING. No one could be a better Effie. I sometimes think she knows the character better than Collins does. ;)

My love for Elizabeth Banks is off the charts these days. Everything she touches is sunshine and butterflies and maple syrup.

I haven't had the chance to watch the latest film yet, but I really don't think you should feel bad about enjoying the villains (even though parts of Tumblr seem to think so). There's a world of difference between digging Capitol fashions (which were designed by RL makeup/fashion/jewelry artists being allowed to let their creativity flow) and thinking the Capitol citizens were the heroes of the story.

When the first film premiered I'd never heard of the books and mostly went because I thought Seneca Crane's beard was so rad.

SO not feeling bad. And you are totally right. I love tumblr, I spend most of my life there, but the groupthink that happens sometimes is really the least attractive part. It's fine for people to fawn over Loki or dress their kids up as Daleks or Darth Vader, but god forbid Cover Girl does a hunger games tie-in. I thought their marketing for that was GENIUS, btw. Too bad the packaging didn't have anything identifying it as belonging to THG or I would have bought it ALLLLL. Anyway, fuck off tumblr.

Also? Seneca Crane's beard was SOOOOOO RAD! If I were a dude I would have cosplayed the HELL out of that shit. God, the fashions. THE FASHIONS! Be still my heart.
