The Standard Question

When I worked full time as a paramedic I was asked why I didn't become a nurse instead.  After all, they get paid better.  My answer...I like helping people. As a medic, I do it for an average of 30 minutes each patient, more for extenuating circumstances.  End of.  No muss, no fuss.  (well except for deconning my ambulance and myself on occasion ( Read more... )

If you were a nurse, you would also have to deal with the families. I am told they are sometimes worse than the patients.

I came over here after reading your kind comment over in our mutual friend's journal, and was amazed by the similarities in both our professional and geographic experiences. I, too, am a native Californian who moved East nineteen years ago; not only that, but after reading this entry, I see that we have another thing in common: being a paralegal. I was one for a few years, before I became a social worker. I used to evict people for a living! Then, I came to my current profession because I noticed that I was very good at negotiating payment plans without getting injured. VBG.
