I often feel Community has lost its heart and yes, a lot of it has to do with the way Jeff is treating everyone in the group (except for Britta). Last year it was him trying to detach himself from these "weirdos" but not quite managing to, this year is all a big regression for all of them.
What bothers me the most is the plain infantilization of Annie in order to show the viewers she's too young and, really, stupid for Jeff.
And you're right, Jeff was just too cruel to her in the premiere and continued completely ignoring her for the rest of the season. I doubt the upcoming episode is going to resolve or even mention all the shitty stuff he did to Annie, and I just think that's sloppy writing and it's not the Community I fell in love with.
